Laura Marling to Release a Single on Jack White’s Label
A Title and Release Date for Song Not Yet Confirmed
Jun 28, 2010 Jack White
The White Stripes/Dead Weather/Raconteurs frontman Jack White recorded a new single by British folk artist Laura Marling in his Nashville studio while she was on tour. There is no confirmed title or release date for the track yet, however it will be part of White’s Third Man Records’ “Blue Series” and be released on seven inch.
How did such a collaboration come about? In an interview with BBC Newsbeat at Glastonbury, White said, “Somebody turned me onto her a few months back. If people are coming through town [Nashville] I try to catch up with them and ask them if they want to come by before their show and record something.”
The recording went smoothly and quickly. “It was perfect - one take. She’s gorgeous. Gorgeous voice and an incredible person. A wonderful girl,” explained White.
As for White, The Dead Weather are playing at many of Europe’s festivals this summer, and so far, there are no new plans with The Raconteurs or The White Stripes.
